Why is sleep a foundation?
Sleep and nervous-system functioning influence each other. Poor sleep can reduce sensory tolerance, attention, emotional regulation, pain tolerance, energy and executive function — while those same difficulties can also make sleep harder.
There is no single “right” sleep routine.
The aim is to understand what helps your particular brain and body sleep.
Persistent or significantly disrupted sleep may also be worth discussing
with an appropriate health professional.
