The simple version

ALPIMS is a practical educational and lived-experience resource.

It is designed to help people recognise patterns, reduce cumulative load, support everyday functioning and organise ideas that may be worth discussing with appropriate professionals.

It does not diagnose conditions, provide personalised treatment, or tell anyone what they must do.

The purpose of this site is to provide resources for people living with complexity — not to replace professional care.

ALPIMS offers a way to think about load, capacity, regulation, daily functioning, environments, support and wellbeing.

ALPIMS is a framework, not a diagnosis.

It is intended to support understanding and discussion, not to determine what condition someone has or what treatment they need.

Educational information only

The information on this site is provided for general educational and lived-experience purposes only.

It is not intended to:

  • diagnose any condition
  • treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition
  • replace medical, psychological, occupational therapy, dietetic or allied health advice
  • provide personalised treatment plans
  • tell any person what they should or must do

ALPIMS offers a way to recognise patterns, reduce cumulative load, support daily functioning and organise wellness strategies.

Any information should be interpreted in the context of individual circumstances and, where appropriate, professional guidance.

Not medical or professional advice

Nothing on this site should be taken as medical, mental health, disability, nutrition, legal or other professional advice.

Please seek advice from appropriately qualified professionals about matters such as:

  • diagnosis
  • treatment decisions
  • medication use
  • supplements
  • diet changes
  • exercise or activity programs
  • new, severe or worsening symptoms
  • mental health concerns
  • disability support planning
If you are in immediate danger or at risk of harm

Contact emergency services or an appropriate crisis support service in your area. ALPIMS is not an emergency or crisis service.

Use your own judgement

Not every idea will suit every person.

Some strategies may help one person and not another. Some supports may be useful at one stage of life and less useful at another.

Please adapt ideas carefully and seek professional guidance where needed.

1

Start small

You do not need to change everything at once.

2

Notice what helps

Pay attention to what makes daily life more manageable for you.

3

Adapt what fits

An idea can be changed, simplified or used differently.

4

Leave what does not fit

You do not need to use every idea on this site.

You do not need to do everything.

You do not need to get it perfect.

External resources and adapted ideas

Some concepts on this site are informed by established wellness principles, public education resources, disability-informed practice, occupational therapy approaches, pacing concepts, nervous-system regulation ideas and lived experience.

Where public resources are adapted, such as general wellness tools or self-care frameworks, they may be interpreted through an ALPIMS lens.

References and links are provided where relevant.

External websites are not controlled by ALPIMS. Inclusion of a link does not necessarily mean endorsement of all content on that website.

Use of artificial intelligence

Some wording, summaries, adaptations and resource development on this site may be created or refined with assistance from artificial intelligence.

AI-assisted content can contain errors, omissions, oversimplifications or inaccurate interpretations.

Important information, especially information related to health, treatment, medication, safety or significant decisions, should be checked against appropriate professional or authoritative sources.

AI-assisted material on ALPIMS is intended to support education, reflection and discussion.

It is not a substitute for individual medical, psychological or other professional advice.

AI is used as an assistance tool, not as an authority.

Readers should use their own judgement and verify important information, particularly where health, safety or treatment decisions are involved.

A starting point, not the final word

ALPIMS is intended to help people organise questions, recognise patterns and explore what may make everyday life more manageable. It should not be treated as a complete explanation of any person’s health or circumstances.

No guarantee of results

ALPIMS is a practical framework, not a guaranteed pathway.

Reducing load, pacing, improving routines, adapting environments or using sensory supports may be helpful for some people, but outcomes vary.

Complex health, neurodivergence, trauma, disability and daily-living needs are highly individual.

Some people may need professional assessment, treatment or individualised support.

Voluntary use

Use of this site is voluntary.

By using ALPIMS, you understand that it is a lived-experience and educational resource and not a substitute for professional diagnosis, treatment, therapy or personalised care.

The ALPIMS approach

Use what is useful.

Different people need different things.

What helps may also change with capacity, circumstances, environment and stage of life.

Take what helps. Adapt what fits. Leave the rest.
