Meals with Precooked Rice Cups
A dependable base for low-effort meals when cooking capacity is limited.
Each idea uses a precooked rice cup, one simple protein and one vegetable or other nourishing ingredient.
Why rice cups can help
Precooked rice can reduce preparation, washing-up, standing and decision-making. It can also provide a familiar carbohydrate base for regular eating.
Add a tolerated protein and another food where possible. Use frozen, tinned, pre-cut or ready-to-eat ingredients when that makes eating more achievable.
Adapt to your needs
Check the ingredients in the rice cup and other foods for allergies, coeliac disease, IBS, reflux, migraine triggers and personal tolerances. You do not need to follow every possible dietary adaptation.
These ideas are food supports, not treatments. Nourishment and regular eating come before further restriction.

Helpful adaptations
For reflux
Try a smaller portion, eat slowly and avoid only your known aggravators. Very spicy, acidic or large meals may not suit some people.
For migraine or long gaps between meals
Rice provides carbohydrate; adding protein may make the meal more sustaining. Keep fluids nearby and try not to go long periods without eating if that worsens symptoms.
For low energy or PEM
Use ready-to-eat protein, frozen vegetables and microwaveable ingredients. Sitting down, using one bowl and asking someone else to open or heat foods are valid adaptations.
For IBS or food sensitivities
Use ingredients you already know you tolerate and change one ingredient at a time. Several restrictions together can make it harder to eat enough.
