When Your Nose Becomes a Smoke Detector

At some point I realised my nose had become extremely good at detecting things other people barely noticed.

Cleaning products.
Perfumes.
New furniture.
Fresh paint.

Sometimes I could smell things long before anyone else in the room.

It turns out heightened smell sensitivity is quite common when the nervous system is overloaded.

The challenge is learning to reduce triggers without turning life into a full-time investigation.

Because once you realise you can smell the neighbour’s laundry detergent from down the street…
it’s hard to un-notice it.
